(Business in Cameroon) – On November 2, 2021, in YaoundÃ©, the Minister of Tourism (MINTOUL) Bello Bouba Maigari chaired the official launch of the digital application ‘TourCmr’ developed by the local startup Nchimsy Teq.
According to MINTOUL, said application is part of the arsenal deployed to promote local tourism and monetize Cameroon’s tourism potential and wealth. Thanks to this application available on Playstore and app store, users can find out more about Cameroon and its tourist attractions, in particular the 145 tourist sites classified by location.
“We used cities like YaoundÃ©, Douala, Buea, etc., as categories to classify sites and make searching easier.Â», Explains the developer.
According to the startup, TourCMR educates users on everything they need to know like restaurants, hotels, hospitals, stadiums, cost estimates and even directions to improve tour planning and sightseeing in Cameroon.
“In this world that can be described as a global village, information and communication technologies and digital technology now have an indisputable place in the promotion of internal and external tourism., specifies the MINTOUL.
In its 2020-2030 development strategy, Cameroon plans to attract 3.5 million tourists per year (against 1 million before the coronavirus pandemic) by diversifying the tourist offer and promoting luxury tourism such as golf courses and water sports.
