EPCOT’s next attraction, Journey of Water Inspired By Moana, will feature a 16-foot-tall statue of Te Fiti, the island mother and goddess of Moana.
Parks fans have been expecting exciting updates about the attraction at this year’s D23 Expo, with the Disney Parks panel set to take place on Sunday. In the meantime, however, Disney has unveiled its preview exhibit, the Disney Parks and Experiences Wonderful World of Dreams Pavilion, which teases some upcoming additions to Disney Parks, including this handsome new figure.
On display at D23 Expo, guests can view a detailed scale model of Te Fiti, featuring a 16-foot iteration of the model that will later take pride of place in the Journey of Water attraction when it finally opens to guests at EPCOT. Disney Parks Blog has shared an image of the smaller model that is in attendance at D23 which you can check out below.
Journey of Water will be a traveling attraction that aims to educate guests about the global water cycle through lush environments and interactive experiences, all inspired by Disney’s Moana. Te Fiti’s expected position within the attraction can be seen in some recently released concept art, which you can view below, although it’s not yet known if the character will have a bigger role to play in the attraction when it officially opened.
The construction of Journey of Water has passed exciting milestones in recent weeks, with various images emerging that have glimpsed what is to come with this thrilling and somewhat mysterious attraction. Te Fiti’s presence within the attraction is likely to delight many fans and certainly tease just how magnificent Journey of Water will be once it opens its doors to guests. While there is no set opening date yet for Journey of Water Inspired by Moana, the attraction is expected to debut in 2023.
