Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Wednesday that the state has immense potential for tourism and the government is working tirelessly to promote ecotourism. The State Government’s Department of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change presented the State Government’s Draft Ecotourism Policy to the CM via video conference.

While interacting with the concerned officers during the presentation, Kumar said, “The Bihar government has already taken several measures to protect the environment. When finalizing the ecotourism policy, we must remain mindful that nature is not damaged in any way. The ecotourism policy will also raise people’s awareness of environmental and animal protection and nature conservation in a better way, he said.

Kumar said ecotourism will be promoted at Valmiki Nagar in West Champaran district.

Valmiki Nagar is a famous tourist place where a dam was built on the Gandak River. Also, there is a national park and a tiger reserve near the area where Maharshi Valmiki, the author of the Ramayan, is said to have spent some years.

“The state government will soon construct a convention center in Valmiki Nagar,” the chief minister said.
