NEW DELHI: After the “Statue of Unity” in Gujarat was included in TIME magazine’s “100 Greatest Places in the World of 2019” list, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that he was happy that ‘it is becoming a “popular tourist spot”.

Modi unveiled Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s “Statue of Unity” in October last year on the occasion of his 143rd birthday.

Located on Sadhu-Bet Island in Gujarat, the 182-meter-high statue occupies over 20,000 square meters and is surrounded by a 12-square-kilometer man-made lake.

Besides ‘Statue of Unity’, Soho House Mumbai was also included in the list.
