GNTB presents the 100 most popular tourist attractions in Germany

Since 2012, tourists can name recommendable destinations on the GNTB website

Between December 2021 and June 2022, around 15,000 international visitors from 30 countries chose their favorite tourist destinations in Germany. Germany Tourism has now added the current TOP 100 ranking to its website.

Last year’s winner, Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg, received the most votes. EuropaPark Rust was also able to defend its second place. Rothenburg ob der Tauber took third place for the first time. Neuschwanstein Castle, Phantasialand Brühl, our capital Berlin, the Black Forest National Park, the Criminal Museum in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Dresden and the Moselle Valley followed.

Petra Hedorfer, CEO of the GNTB Board of Directors, said: “For 10 consecutive years, the TOP 100 ranking showcases German destinations and sights. The ranking not only provides insight into international fame and popularity. it is also a vote for the attractiveness of the destination brand, Germany in international competition.”

Since 2012, visitors to the Germany Tourism website can use a free text field to name tourist destinations that they find particularly recommendable. From there, the GNTB develops the TOP 100 ranking.

“History, culture and natural beauty perhaps best describe the essence of vacationing in Germany. With its many historic towns and quaint small towns, as well as an abundance of forests and mountains, Indian visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing unique places to visit in this beautiful part of Europe,” said Romit Theophilus, Director, German National Tourist Office, India (GNTO).

In addition to the general ranking, the survey results are structured into clusters: UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Cities, Urban Sites, Natural Sites, Leisure and Animal Parks, Museums, National Parks, Regions, Castles and Palaces .
