Varanasi / Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A statue of Marathi Queen Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, who had the Kashi Vishwanath temple rebuilt in 1777, will be installed in the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor and is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 13.
The temple complex will also contain statues of Aadi Shankaracharya, Bharat Mata and Lord Kartikeya.
The statue of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar will be installed near the tourist entertainment center, while the statue of Bharat Mata will be mounted near Mandir Chowk. The statue of Lord Kartikeya is being installed near KVT. Each statue is 6.5 feet tall and will be set on stone plinths.
Since its reconstruction by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar in 1977, the Kashi Vishwanath temple, considered among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, knows for the first time a massive renovation and development.
In November 2018, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, asked the authorities to ensure that the statue of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar was installed in tribute to her for the reconstruction of KVT in 1777 after its destruction in the Mughal era.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also paid tribute to Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar and paved the way for the development of facilities for hassle-free visits by pilgrims to the shrine.
“The restoration process has already started”
“The process of restoring the idols of Goddess Parvati, Goddess Annapurna, Lord Ganesh, Lord Hanuman and Lord Satyanarayan in the premises of KV temple was initiated by installing prefabricated temples there. The process of installing the statues of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, Adi Shankaracharya, Bharat Mata and Lord Kartikeya has also been initiated. The statue of Adi Shankaracharya will be installed at the KV Dham entry point near the ghat along the Ganges, ”said Deepak Agrawal, Varanasi divisional commissioner.
