Locals unfurl Tricolor at Dal Lake’s iconic Char Chinar tourist spot to celebrate the 73rd Republic Day

Kashmiri people rolled out Tricolor at Char Chinar, the iconic tourist spot in the middle of Dal Lake in Srinagar on the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day.

On the other hand, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) activists on the occasion of the 73rd Republic day placed the Indian flag on top of a clock tower in Lal Chowk of Srinagar after almost 30 year.

Amid freezing weather in the region, contingents of police and paramilitary forces took part in the 73rd Republic Day celebrations on Wednesday under strict security measures.

RR Bhatnagar, adviser to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir presided over the Republic Day ceremony held at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in the city’s high-security Sonawar district, officials said.

In his Republic Day speech, Mr. Bhatnagar hailed the role played by healthcare workers and other allied personnel in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He also commended the security forces for maintaining public order and fighting against subversive elements in Kashmir.

Barricades have been erected at all major junctions in the city and security force personnel have been deployed in large numbers to maintain peace, law and order in Kashmir.

Meanwhile, India celebrated its 73rd Republic Day today with Delhi’s iconic Rajpath parade showcasing its military prowess and cultural pageantry. A flypast of 75 planes and helicopters was the highlight of this year’s parade.
