Man shot dead near popular tourist spot in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA – A man was shot and killed by a Christmas Village security guard at LOVE Park in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, reports said.

According to Action News, Gregory Thomas Sr., 43, was charged with murder and related crimes after police say he shot a 29-year-old man in LOVE Park.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, has been found shot around 8:45 p.m. in the park of 15th street and boulevard John F. Kennedy, reports NBC10. The man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Fox 29, Thomas got into an argument with the man, then retrieved a handgun from a gym bag inside his vehicle and shot the victim several times in the head, neck and abdomen.

Thomas’s operations supervisor for the security company he worked at was able to get in touch with him and took him to police headquarters later Tuesday after Thomas left the scene of the shooting, Action News reports.
