Most tourist sites closed for the rest of the week


The majority of tourist sites across the country are closed on Thursday and many visitors are advising visitors to check for updates. However, the level of information on opening hours varies from site to site.

The following is a breakdown of the status of some of the most popular attractions for which information is available.

Guinness Store House: Closed on Thursdays due to weather. I hope to open at 9.30am on Friday, but advise potential visitors to check the website for updates.

Trinity College Book of Kells: The Book of Kells exhibition is closed until noon on Sundays.

National Museum Sites: All National Museum of Ireland sites are closed on Thursday and Friday due to the Red Weather Alert.

These include the Archeology Museums in Kildare Street, the Natural History Museum in Merrion Square and the Country Life exhibition in Turlough Park, Co Mayo.

The Irish Country Furniture and Albert Bender galleries at the Collins Barracks Museum of Decorative Arts and History have been closed since February 21 for renovations.

Dublin Hop On – Hop Off Bus Tours: In line with other Thursday bus services, Hop On Hop Off sightseeing tours are currently suspended. Updates are expected on the return of service and passengers are advised to check the Dublin Bus website for further information.

Kilmainham Jail and Courthouse: Both venues are closed today and tickets will be refunded. No information available on Friday’s status.

Dublin Zoo: Dublin Zoo is closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

Newgrange/Bru na Boinne: The Brú na Bóinne Visitor Center for the Neolithic Monuments of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth remains closed until further notice.

Dublin Bikes: Dublin City Council has informed the public and tourists that the Dublin Bike service will remain unavailable until further notice.
