Portuguese bloggers and photographers visit Georgia to explore the country’s tourist destinations, culture and recreational and adventure tourism products before preparing promotional articles and photo essays on attractions for Portuguese-speaking audiences.
Organized by the Georgian National Tourism Administration and the Georgian Embassy in Portugal, the press tour welcomes visitors to the country’s capital and other locations.
Our goal is to diversify the target tourism markets to attract more spendthrift tourists, reflect that in revenues, and make the effect more sustainable and long-term,” said Medea Janishvili, Acting Head of GNTA, explaining the organization of the visit.
After visiting the old town of Tbilisi, journalist Luis de Magalhaes drew similarities between the country and Portugal.
Georgians are very friendly – everyone smiles. I really liked the Georgian wine, which is similar to Portuguese. I think Portuguese tourists will be interested in Georgia and will visit your country,” he said.
The group of eight visiting writers have previously visited Tbilisi, the historic capital of Mtskheta, as well as the cave town of Uplistsikhe, among other places. The press tour is also expected to involve the seaside resorts of Baghdati, Sairme, Vani, Martvili and Tskaltubo in the west of the country. Guests will also visit Prometheus Cave in the western part of the country.
