Running out of ideas for day trips this fall? Less than an hour from Teesside, nestled in the North York Moors National Park, is a beautiful little village waiting to be explored.
The village is located in the old interior courtyard of Rievaulx Abbey, where less than 100 people live.

It sits in the heart of the North York Moors National Park, which is full of stunningly beautiful scenery.
A Yorkshire Live reporter headed to the village to check out its scenic allure.
She said: “You don’t quite realize you got to Rievaulx until you see this huge stone building bursting with character at the heart of it.”
âThe village seems a very quiet place and you can’t imagine that its crime figures are through the roof and that there definitely wasn’t much going on there.
“There were probably more animals living in the village than there were people.”
She continued, âBut that doesn’t stop the constant flow of vehicles coming to visit the abbey – there was even a motorhome parked in the parking lot.
âThere were even tourists from Spain visiting the tourist attraction, but finding locals seemed impossible.
“Even the reception and cafe at Rievaulx Abbey were occupied by locals from neighboring villages, although a pit stop allowed me to enjoy a (delicious) coffee and admire the beautiful landscape that lay before me. surrounded. “
One member said: “Everyone’s just passing by, they’re coming to see the abbey and that’s it. There’s not much else going on here.
“I guess tourists spend money in the abbey cafe, they don’t leave trash – just a lot of cars, the parking lot can get busy sometimes which means the road through the village can too . “
Other than a few workers in a house, there wasn’t much else going on in this tiny village – the perfect location for a slice of peace and quiet in an otherwise busy world.
