The government has sanctioned an Rs 20 crore theme park on the premises of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), which will be built around a 200-tonne bronze statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda.

The project is being executed by the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Heritage Area Development Authority, established to conserve and develop 46 heritage sites, tourist sites and monuments in Kempegowda at Rs 226 crore. Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa sanctioned the project while in power.

The authority has started working on the development of Magadi, Bengaluru and Nandi circuits. It engaged Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka (iDeck) to prepare the detailed project report for the proposals.
